The ONLY thing I love about summer is the fact that I can shoot outdoors any time I want. I’m more a fan of the Colorado fall as the photos below of Paige, were shot at 8pm in November 2009.
Sadly, we’re not at the fall time of year so we must make due.

When I’m out doors shooting, I treat it like I do in studio; it’s an intimate shoot that has me wanting to spend my time getting to know my client.
Bringing bulky reflectors draws attention from the passer-by’s and now that camera phones are 5megapixel+ last thing I want or need is a crappy attempt at my shot out there.
When shooting outdoors, I want them as relaxed as possible. On a beautiful spring/summer/fall day, sun hitting them and warming them, one will get a more natural look from client.
For me, boudoir is about the client, not me. When I’m shooting portfolio stuff, although I make it about the client, it really is bottom line, about me. How am I going to light it. Or how will I pose it. With boudoir, I feel and say things such as “we” and “our” and occasionally, “your”
Janelle has a great unique look that I’ve wanted to shoot for some time. Her eyes are either blue or green or gray, just depends. Janelle is a dancer (not THAT kind of dancer!) so a lot of the photos I see of her are dancer specific. She’s usually moving hard, working hard or sweaty. I wanted our session to be more sensual/sexual so it can be different than whats in her book now. I wanted to celebrate her sexy and she was cool with it.
One of the reasons clients love me is because I like to have FUN! From looking at my work, it’s my hopes that you will see that I’m VERY passionate about our art, but that I like to have FUN! I see so many guys who are obsessed with getting the “perfect” image, that I don’t think they have fun. My Grandma said “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day again in your life” Grandmas are always right! So before I start with the client pics, I go through and clean up some of the in between photos-the photos that are them being silly or laughing at me. I will share them with you!
On a LOT of the photography forums, the “Elders” or more “Respected” members, are often people who have THOUSANDS of posts but when you look to see what kind, you quickly find they have ZERO threads started sharing their work, and thousands of posts critiquing.
In case you didn’t know, there is a huge difference between a tearsheet and internet publications.
As we all know, internet publications means a lot more today, then they ever have, however, currently, an internet publication isn’t quite considered a tear sheet. I was speaking with a young lady who was featured on a night club flyer that was distributed digitally via facebook. She told me “I’ve been featured in 10 tearsheets I’m more than on my way” After discussing where, I had to educate her that a tear sheet is something you can…tear out. She disagreed, strongly and I understood her stance and didn’t want to argue, but wanted to educate you all to the difference! Here’s a few examples of tear sheets
As you know, my server was wiped out totally leaving me only with updates from the last time I backed up my server.
I was just put in contact with ALL my archive posts so I will spend the rest of this week going through and re-posting the good ones. These should bring us up to date and current and starting with next week I will be back to posting new stuff.
If you visit my Facebook, you will notice I have thousands of friends. As with my real life, majority of my friends are females. When I look at facebook updates, I’m looking for photo updates and those I want to shoot next. Often times, I see posts where women are saying men are totally responsible for making women “starve” themselves as that’s all that’s in the magazines. I’ve often found this funny and by the end of this blog post, you’ll understand and possibly find it funny as well.
As you can see, for the time being we are rocking the year old layout and categories. You will notice that this is the second update for 2012. Hurricane Sandy wiped out my former server companies facility. I didn’t have a current local backup of my sites as they back up every night at midnight. I was under the auspice that knowing in advance a HURRICANE was coming, the server company would make working backups of all client files and temporary host them or have them ready to be hosted on backup hardware in a different state. This wasn’t the case. As was explained to me by the owner, they had their backup servers located in the SAME ROOM as the prime servers and as a result the storm took out the primary server and the flooding took out the overnight backup. Why someone would have a data storage company ground floor and below is beyond me, but this is not my specialty.
