Where have I been?
Where have I been? If you’ve been a long time viewer of my blog, you will notice that I’ve been gone for a long time. I took a break from photography for personal reasons. Nothing serious mind you, just personal reasons.
For me, photography was no longer fun. I was married and miserable, doing photography, workshops, shootouts and instruction just to pay bills to survive. Not because it was my vocation. Because I was doing it to pay bills, I allowed my former partner to make a lot of the business decisions. Let’s just say bad decisions were made.
In June of 2018 that all changed. I separated from my wife and admittedly, everything got instantly better. I had a huge dark cloud, a heavy weight lifted from my shoulder. I was living in Cali and started to focus on myself. After 21 years of marriage to a not good person and adapting that philosophy, I had to take time to figure out who I was and what I liked, wanted. I ended up moving back to Minnesota in 2019 and took 2 years to decide if I loved photography as I did before being married?
Turns out I do! I’ve been a photographer for four decades and turns out, I cannot let 2 decades corrupt my passion, my voccao. Over the past year I’ve been slowly getting back into the swing of things. Slowly looking at what is important to me to accomplish as a photographer. I have decided that I’m going to start back shooting and eventually, leading workshops and shootouts. I am traveling more and meeting up with models and photographers that I never would have had the chance to meet before.
