A lot apparently!

Supermarket Walmart Superstores has launched a new and aggressive marketing campaign.  Their campaign is a new aggressive food campaign to get consumers to give their food, most importantly, their steaks a second look. With all new and different wrapping, their premium choice steaks are 100% grade A angus blah blah blah. What does this have to do with photography? Everything!  Before we continue, lets check out their latest commercial:

I am not the shopper in my house. My wife is the coupon crazy lady and if I don’t get something for free, I’m a total failure. This being the case, we had Walmart steaks a few years aback and she said never again. After seeing this commercial, she is now insistent we try Walmart steaks. Why? Because everyone in this controlled group said they were fantaboulous!  Her, as I’m sure along side millions of other people, missed a huge and important part of this equation; “Master Grill Chef…” Yes! Exactly! If you missed it before, now you get it! With a “Master Grill Chef” he can make ANYTHING taste like it’s come out of a 10star restaurant! How this applies to photography is simple; when looking over photos, it’s often the question “What camera did you use?” or “What lights do you use?” These don’t mean anything! Asking what product to make the photo is often an insult as a good photographer can make the same photo using ANY camera. I’ve already posted my thoughts on it here, but this goes to show that you can take meat from a mass production assembly line and give it to someone who knows what they’re doing and they can still make great things.

In case you’re curious, we tried Walmart steak tonight on the grill and my wife was impressed. I might not be a photography master, but I’m damn sure a master of the grill!
