All about that bass is a new song that is the “it” song. If you’ve not heard it, I’ll give you a few to check it out  and then we’ll cover why it’s on a glamour photography website:

Now when I heard about “All about that bass” I heard it was a terrible song. It was a song that mocked people and that it was offensive. The last song I heard that was so terrible was Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” and once I finally heard that, I thought it was pretty awesome. So I gave Meghan Trainor a listen and came to a couple of conclusions:

1. I think she’s super hot!
2. I LOVE her voice!
3. I dig the song!
4. Much ado about nothing.

After I watched the video and heard the song, I started paying attention to those who had the biggest problem with it. It became pretty obvious the mindset of it all: Skinny vs Healthy debate all over again. This time, it was fueled by a song that is catchy! Lots of skinny girls were saying it was disgusting and offensive. There is a line in the song:

I’m bringing booty back
Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that

That one line has caused many people to freak out and cause controversy. The thing that I find funny? They don’t talk about the next line:

No I’m just playing. I know you think you’re fat
But I’m here to tell ya
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top

This song is about loving yourself regardless your size. There are some people who cannot for the life of them gain weight. I know quite a few. There are some who work out religiously and are unable to lose weight. In today’s day in age, so many people are comfortable making comments about things such as weight and whatnot. When I was flying from Cali to CO, I had a guy say “Oh man! Please tell me you’re a linebacker or offensive lineman for the CU Rams.” I had never seen this guy before in my life, but the fact that he felt so comfortable to approach me and make reference to my size was shocking. As a Type1 Diabetic, I have to spend the rest of my days pumping myself full of fake insulin which helps me keep my winter weight. There are many people with thyroid and other hereditary issues that make weight loss next to impossible. We have reached a part in our comfort that skinny people are entitled to say what they want, yet once someone says something about them, its a travesty. How fair is that? If you can dish it, you should be able to take it as well.

I am a glamour photographer by trade. I love glamour photography. I love how I make people feel, regardless their shape and size. One thing that bothers me to no end is when I see my current shoot crush Ashley Alexiss say she’s “plus sized” No, you look damn good woman! If we all spend a little less talking about others and more focus on ourselves I bet we will be a better society for it.
