Canon vs Nikon

November 9, 2012

Lynessa holding a Canon EOS 7DOne of the most annoying debates in the photography world is “Canon vs Nikon” This is something that’s been happening since the beginning of time and will never go away. My take on it? Those who partake in this debate are morons.

Yes, I said it. If you partake in this convo, you’re a moron. Why? WHO CARES? There’s a guy on Facebook that I’m “friends” with. He posted a photo of a gentleman who was shooting outdoors in winter with a Nikon camera that had a ton of ice on it. The poster made a comment such as “Let’s see a Canon do this” A friend of mine replied that he was trying to hold off his reply as he knew it was a stupid debate to get into, but he couldn’t. Like moth to the flame, it drew him in and he made a comment and thus the debate started. I responded saying unless the poster had done the same test on a Canon or other camera, it was a stupid claim to make being there was no control group. His response? He told me to lighten up! 1.) I’m not down or dark, so I don’t need to “lighten up”
and 2.) Don’t get mad bro, cause I brought sense to the argument! If you’re going to put down ANY camera or product, it would be in your best interest to not make such claims.

Why is the discussion moronic? WHO CARES! As stated before the camera is a tool and the person using it is what makes it a good or bad shot. To say one is better than the other is petty and shows a lack of photographic education, common education and sense. I explained to the gentleman that I can take a great photo with a Nikon or Canon to which he replied “It’s not the point” In my world, the production of great images is the ONLY point there is!

When you see people debating the Canon vs Nikon or X vs X debate, giggle and move on and realize that when Michelangelo was commissioned to paint the Sistine Chapel, he wouldn’t have said; “Hmm a Filbert Brush is far superior than a flat brush so it’s superior” He would have used the brush he had available and got the job done.
